By bringing the two worlds of volunteers and underprivileged children together,
Voluntarios de la Esperanza can contribute to a better future in two directions
at once: improving the social situation of the children it serves as well as
creating a more socially and internationally conscious group of future leaders.
For many of the abandoned and abused children we support, their orphanage is the
only world they know. A foreign volunteer, by merely being present, thus opens
new windows of their view of the world. At the same time, the volunteer learns
from these amazingly resilient and loving boys and girls. The theme of
Voluntarios de la Esperanza is hope, and we feel that bringing these two worlds
together is one step toward a future of equality and social justice. |
